Such a common question!
First, pause for a moment and feel your own arms. Just lift them slightly… and notice what happens in your chest, your breath, your spine.
Kundalini Yoga uses the arms so much because the arms are direct levers into:
• the heart center• the lungs and breath capacity• the electromagnetic field (aura)• and the brain hemispheres
Let me explain...
1. Arms open the heart and lungs
When we lift or extend the arms, the rib cage expands. The lungs inflate more fully. The heart center activates. Many kriyas that use arms are actually training the heart chakra and increasing prana through the lungs.
More breath → more energy → clearer mind.
This is foundational in many classes, especially in heart and fire element practices .
2. Arms build the electromagnetic field
Your hands are energetic projectors. When you hold your arms out, especially for extended periods, you are strengthening your aura.
It may feel tiring — but that “burn” is building containment. Magnetic presence. Stability in your field.
In manifesting and magnetic presence classes, this containment of energy is essential .
3. Arms challenge the mind
Holding the arms up creates pressure.
The body says: “Put them down.” The mind reacts. Complains. Negotiates.
This is not accidental.
Kundalini Yoga uses arm positions to expose the reactive mind so you can: Observe. Breathe. Stay present.
This is neutral mind training — accessing the peace channel beyond duality .
4. Arms connect right and left brain
Moving arms rhythmically balances hemispheres. Especially in kriyas with coordinated breath and mantra. The arms become instruments of integration.
But here’s the deeper answer.
The arms express projection.
They reach.
They protect.
They push away.
They embrace.
When we consciously position the arms, we are re-patterning how we relate to life.
Instead of reacting unconsciously, we choose how we project energy.
That’s powerful.
When you practice and your arms get tired…What happens inside you?
